The MySpeedMeter speed test

http://www.myspeedmeter.net/ The MySpeedMeter speed test 0 4/5 stars ★★★★☆ Hans van der Graaf

MySpeedMeter is the only Ookla clone so far that allows you to test over IPv4 and IPv6.

In general, the MySpeedMeter speed test is not a recommended speed test, mainly because this speed test is a clone of Ookla's Speedtest.

MySpeedMeter
4
Ookla
3

Ookla's Speedtest and its clones are accurate, use a lot of data and take a relatively long time to complete.

These three features account for 70% of the overall score we give to a speed test. It is therefore not surprising that almost all clones of Ookla's Speedtest have the same overall score.

Basic URL

The basic URL for the MySpeedMeter speed test (location London) is http://hktp6.speedtestcustom.com/.

The basic URL for the IPv6 test (location London) is http://hktp6.dualstack.speedtestcustom.com/.

These are all locations (IPv4 / IPv6) offered by MySpeedMeter:

  1. Hong Kong: http://hktp6.speedtestcustom.com?serverId=12370/ / http://hktp6.dualstack.speedtestcustom.com?serverId=12370/
  2. London: http://hktp6.speedtestcustom.com/?serverId=18859/ / http://hktp6.dualstack.speedtestcustom.com/?serverId=18859/
  3. Los Angeles: http://hktp6.speedtestcustom.com/?serverId=18860/ / http://hktp6.dualstack.speedtestcustom.com/?serverId=18860/

For a proper comparison between MySpeedMeter vs Ookla, we will focus on the differences between MySpeedMeter's speed test (London Ipv4) and Ookla's.

Since there are so many Ookla clones, we have created a separate list of Ookla clones for this purpose.

The MySpeedMeter speed test is owned by Sun Creation Engineering Limited. However, their website is still Under construction.

MySpeedMeter starts with the home screen below.

When a location and IP version is seleced, the speed test opens in an overlay. The test itself starts directly.

How we tested

We have tested the MySpeedMeter speed test in a standardized way (London IPv4 and IPv6) to determine the overall score. For the scoreboard (MySpeedMeter versus Ookla) we count the number of pros and cons.

The following results form the basis for this speed test review:

  1. Abort/pause possible: yes
  2. Ad-free: yes
  3. Average download speed of 3 measurements (IPv4): 101.8 Mbps
  4. Average download speed of 3 measurements (IPv6): 102.1 Mbps
  5. Clear indication of the current focus: no
  6. Correct back button behavior: no
  7. Flesch Reading Ease score of the privacy policy: 0 (no privacy policy found)
  8. Number of ACheckers known problems: 2
  9. Number of cookies: 3
  10. Number of measured features: 5
  11. Number of Wave errors: 1
  12. Observatory score: 10
  13. Tingtun score: 86.67
  14. Total data use of 3 measurements (IPv4): 689.21 MiBs
  15. Total data use of 3 measurements (IPv6): 742.64 MiBs
  16. Total time to complete 3 tests (IPv4): 102 seconds
  17. Total time to complete 3 tests (IPv6): 104 seconds
