There are so many Ookla clones that we don't want to test them all. We thought it was quite a lot to make this list of Speedtest Custom™ variants.
Of course we tested a handful of Ookla clones. Then https://speedtpe.speedtestcustom.com/ turned out to be the best Ookla clone. The main reasons were the use of https://, the good color contrast and the lack of a customer logo.
There are undoubtedly other variations that are just as good or even better. If you have a suggestion, please let us know.

It was possible to create your own Speedtest Custom™ variant for free until October 2022. Spring 2025 you have to pay $5,000 for your own Speedtest Custom™ variant. That is above our budget. So we made a fake clone.

IPv4 versus IPv6
Almost all Ookla clones test (early 2025) based on IPv4. Testing based on IPv6 is possible though. We wrote about this in Speedtest Custom tests via IPv4 and IPv6 and Measuring IPv6 internet speed with Ookla.
