Speedtest

First things first. Like all other speed tests we have tested, we tested Ookla's Speedtest in a standardized way.

A stylistic gauge followed by SPEEDTEST (and a small ®)

Although Speedtest is one of the most well-known speed tests, it is not the best speed test. Speedtest has the following disadvantages, among others:

  1. It is a relative slow speed test
  2. There are ads
  3. A lot of cookies are placed
  4. A speed test requires a lot of data

A new version

Ookla is currently rolling out a new version of Speedtest. The main difference is that in the results "Jitter" is replaced by "Download latency" and "Upload latency".

Based on this information, Ookla offers 4 quality indicators (browsing quality, gaming quality, streaming quality and video call quality).

We will review this new version when it is clear that this is the final new version, so stay tuned.

The old interface

The classic Speedtest (here demo.speedtestcustom.com) shows a graph of the download speed The old interface of Speedtest (demo.speedtestcustom.com).

The new interface
