The myspeed.ai speed test

The myspeed.ai speed test ★★★★☆

In general, the myspeed.ai speed test was not a recommended speed test. Despite the fact that myspeed.ai was blazing fast and extremely data efficient, we did not recommend myspeed.ai because the measured speed was ambiguous and the signal quality was more confusing than useful.

With an adverstised speed of 100 Mbps and an average measured internet speed of 103.7 Mbps, we concluded that the myspeed.ai speed test was a relative accurate speed test (Accuracy score: 81/100).

The myspeed.ai speed test was a ambiguous speed test. That is, this speed test measured structural an internet speed somewhere between the the advertised speed and your your true internet speed.

The myspeed.ai speed test uses a gauge to indicate your download speed in Mbps and a gauge to indicate your signal quality in percents

This speed test also gave an indication of your signal quaility.

Signal quality

With the text below myspeed.ai indirectly indicated what the signal quality is:

(...) Stable internet without bandwidth fluctuation will satisfy most types of application needs. Like 20Mbps reliable speed will be better than 100Mbps fluctuating connection speeds. myspeed.ai uses AI technology to detect the varying internet speed at the server side. Using the data at the server side, it can measure the stability of the internet & provide it as a signal quality in percentage. (...)

We used a wired connection when testing myspeed.ai. The signal quality varied from 85% to 99%, the median and the average were both 92%. The standard deviation was 4.1%.

myspeed.ai stated: Does the signal quality applies to wired connection?

Realistically on a stable internet connection, the signal quality of wired connection should be 100%. If the wired connection bandwidth is fluctuating, then it would have lower values.

92% is significant lower than 100%, hence we wonder how much value signal quality has.

The myspeed.ai speed test was developed by the same team behind the innovative MingleView software. The first occurence on the Wayback Machine is from July 2023.

Pros

This myspeed.ai speed test had the following pros:

  1. It was an original speed test
  2. The speed test was very fast
  3. The speed test was extremely data efficient

Cons

This myspeed.ai speed test had the following cons:

  1. The measured speed was ambiguous
  2. There was no clear indication when the test was complete
  3. Signal quality was an unclear measure

When to use myspeed.ai

If you want to quickly run a speed test and take the results with a grain of salt, myspeed.ai was a great speed testing tool. Otherwise read our advice for a speed test that suits your needs.

How we tested

We have tested the myspeed.ai speed test in a standardized way. This makes speed tests easy to compare.

The following results form the basis for this speed test review:

  1. Abort/pause possible: no
  2. Ad-free: yes
  3. Average download speed of 3 measurements: 103.7 Mbps
  4. Clear indication of the current focus: no
  5. Correct back button behavior: no
  6. Flesch Reading Ease score of the privacy policy: 0 (no privacy policy found)
  7. Number of ACheckers known problems: 0 (probably incorrect)
  8. Number of cookies: 0
  9. Number of measured features: 1 (the signal quality)
  10. Number of Wave errors: 5
  11. Observatory score: - (not possible to test, see below)
  12. Tingtun score: - (not possible to test)
  13. Total data use of 3 measurements: 135.8 MiBs
  14. Total time to complete 3 tests: 26 seconds

myspeed.ai is hard to test, for example it was not possible to determine the observatory score.

Observatory can't test myspeed.ai ang gives the error: The site seems to be down
