Fast versus Cloudflare

We compared Fast ★★☆☆☆ with Cloudflare ★★★★☆ and concluded that Cloudflare is a better speed test than Fast.

This is mainly because Cloudflare is much more accurate and informative than Fast.

Strengths of Fast

By far Fast's strongest point is its usability. The speed test starts automatically, and has an interface that clearly shows one thing, namely the measured download speed.

In addition, you can easily pause the test. Furthermore, Fast is ad- and cookie-free.

It is therefore not surprising that Fast scores high on the list Usable speed tests and on the list Privacy respecting speed tests.

Strengths of Cloudflare

By far Cloudflare's strongest point is its information provision.

Even before you start the test, it becomes clear what happens to your IP address and how many megabytes (maximum) are needed for a test.

Cloudflare runs multiple tests in succession. Each test clearly shows what the results are.

Cloudflare also scores well in terms of ease of use. For example, you can easily pause the test. Furthermore, Cloudflare is ad- and cookie-free.

It is therefore not surprising that Cloudflare also scores high on the Usable speed tests and Privacy respecting speed tests lists.

Our recommendation

Based on what we know about speed tests, if we had to choose between these two speed tests, we would choose Cloudflare over Fast. The deciding factor is the accuracy and the information provision of Cloudflare.
